Cantori Choral Ensemble was formed in the fall of 2005 by Director Agnes French as a small ensemble of advanced and experienced singers interested in making music of the highest caliber.
Cantori performed its inaugural concert on January 1, 2006 at Bruton Parish Church in Colonial Williamsburg to a packed house, and immediately earned a reputation for musical excellence. Sponsoring its many performances to date have been Bruton Parish Church, the Williamsburg Music Club, First Night Williamsburg, An Occasion for the Arts, Historic Ware Church, St. Alban’s Church (Washington, DC), Grace Episcopal Church (Kilmarnock), St. Stephen Lutheran Church, Hickory Neck Episcopal Church, Williamsburg Baptist Concert Series, and Walnut Hills Baptist Church.
Repertoire amassed by the group include over 200 works of sacred and secular music for the Christmas season, classical sacred music, spirituals, madrigals, folk songs, and secular choral works.
Praised for its clarity tones, beautiful blend of voices, and a cappella singing, Cantori has also performed accompanied by chamber orchestra, harp, flute, tin whistle, oboe, horn, cello, violin, percussion, organ, and piano.
